Music streaming giant Spotify has started testing Non-Fungible Token (NFT) galleries on its artist pages.
According to The Verge, the music streaming platform has started the testing phase for some Android users in the US and NFT previews have now been released for artists like Steve Aoki and The Wombats.
“Spotify is running a test to help a small group of artists promote their existing third-party NFT offerings through artist profiles” a company spokesperson told Music Ally. “We routinely run a series of tests to improve the artist and fan experiences. Some pave the way for a broader experience and others simply serve an important learning function” he added.
In addition, it was stated in the statement that Spotify will provide users with the “See More” option and users can purchase by being directed to the relevant NFT’s page on OpenSea. But Spotify doesn’t seem to support NFTs that are videos or GIFs.
